Hello, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to those of you who may not be familiar with Hughes Bookkeeping &Tax Service, or with me. My name is Patsy Hughes, and I’m a native of Oglethorpe County. I was born here, educated here, raised my family here and I plan to be here forever. My children, Tim, Joe, and Suzanne, all started kindergarten here and graduated from Oglethorpe County High School. They all attended the University of Georgia. My husband is Ted Hughes. Ted and I have been married since 1963. We live in the Smithonia Community, where I was born, on a small cattle farm. My hobbies include gardening and reading, and of course I have to be available to help with the farm chores. My favorite farm job is clipping pastures, and I’m quite good at it. I have three grand children, Diana, David and Daniel Gomez, who live in Calhoun, GA. Suzanne’s husband, Jose’ L. Gomez, teaches at Gordon County High School. I started my business, Hughes Bookkeeping & Tax service, Inc., in 1981. I feel that my success is due to hard work, good management practices, continual training, staying abreast of the latest technology, and the outstanding personal service I provide to each of my many clients. I located my business in the little service station building across from the Commercial Bank in Crawford and was there for 16 years. Then I purchased my present office from the Oglethorpe County farm Bureau, and we are starting our fourth year here. Ted and I have worked hard to turn this building into a friendly, easy to manage suite of offices that provide the opportunity for me to meet my clients in a professional atmosphere that is attractive, efficient and friendly. We believe our customers deserve the best, and our goal is to deliver the best service possible. Professional, friendly, confidential, personal service is what our clients expect, and that’s what we strive to provide. We are currently accepting new accounts in both our bookkeeping and tax service departments. We offer computer based accounting and electronic filing ( e- filing) and can usually have your refund deposited into your bank account seven to twelve working days after we file. We don’t offer rapid refund because we can get your refund very fast without the added cost of a loan. We invite you to stop by and say hello, meet our office staff. Patti is a native of Greene County and has lived in Greensboro most of her life. She has worked for over 20 years in Office Management and Accounting. She and husband, Steve, have 4 children: Mark, age 21; Jessica, age 16; William, age 14; and Austin, age 8. Steve owns and operates "Pinson Automotive and Towing", located on Hwy 15, south of Greensboro. |

Gail and her husband John have lived in the Smithonia community of Oglethorpe County for over 20 years. Originally from Minnesota, they own and operate a dairy farm and swine production unit with their son Matt and his wife Jenny, and Grandsons J.D.and Jarrett.
She and John also have a daughter, Julie Noltensmeier, who lives in Lexington with son Alex, and Husband Scott. Gail has 30 years experience in accounting and in the past several years she has moved into the field of tax preparation. She is finishing her fourth year with HBT, and has been a very welcome addition to our staff. |
