The Prose and Poetry section
A collection of poems, articles
And Short stories
by Ted Hughes
Ted first began writing while serving in the United States Navy in the early 1960's. He has written poems and stories about his Naval service, his farm animals, and his interaction with friends and neighbors around the country. Over the past twenty years he has spent many delightful hours reading to fourth grade students in the Oglethorpe County School System and other County systems in the area. He participated in the very first writing festival held at Timothy Road Elementary School in Clarke County.
Ted served on the Oglethorpe County Library Board for fifteen years and was given the honor of leading the project that resulted in the New Oglethorpe County Library.
As a Contributing Columnist, Ted wrote columns for The Oglethorpe Echo for several years in the late 1980's and the early 1990's. He also contributed news articles and writings on community and political issues for many years.
Ted participated in the poetry readings at the Georgia Cattleman's Association Conventions and has held readings at the Oglethorpe County Library.
So, relax and kick back, smell the roses and taste the good country life. Smile at the antics of the animals, cry with the pain of loss, but be ready to feel what Ted is feeling as he shares a wide range of emotions that make you understand his ability to express what we all feel in a manner that we can all appreciate.
